The premise
Not an author website.
A doorway into the work.
Kate Blues writes psychological and gothic fiction about the fragile things we lose, the darkness we survive, and the selves we become in its wake.
The identity needed to hold more than books. It had to connect the author, three distinct story universes, English and Danish readers, press and an ongoing reader relationship — without losing the mystery at the centre of the writing.
Deliverables
Author identity, UX/UI & websiteExperience
Bilingual hub with distinct story worldsStatus
Launched · Live 2026The architecture
Built as a system.
Experienced as a story.
The site was designed to solve two needs at once: give Kate a recognisable author identity, while allowing every book to become its own distinct world.
Master layer
The author hub
A restrained, atmospheric home establishes Kate’s voice and connects every title without flattening their differences.
Story layer
Individual book portals
Each book receives its own palette, pacing, typography and visual language inside the larger Kate Blues system.
Discovery layer
Characters, places & fragments
Readers can explore beyond a synopsis through rooms, people, quotations and details that make the fiction feel inhabited.
Relationship layer
Language, press & newsletter
Bilingual paths, practical information and carefully placed invitations turn atmosphere into an ongoing reader relationship.
The digital experience
Explore the
living world.
The website unfolds in chapters. Move from the author hub into two very different fictional worlds — then meet the personal story behind the writing.

One atmospheric point of entry connects the author, stories, press and readers.

A cold, contemporary world shaped by restraint, surveillance and fractured trust.

A tactile gothic chapter with its own century, palette and emotional temperature.

The memoir and personal essay reveal why these worlds needed to be written.
Our approach
Begin with the emotion.
Build everything outward.
The world
A visual language for stories we survive but rarely speak about.
One author, many worlds
A restrained master identity gives each novel room to become its own cinematic universe.
Story beyond the page
Characters, places and atmosphere turn browsing into discovery — inviting readers deeper before publication.
An intimate digital journey
Slow pacing, layered imagery, bilingual content and deliberate motion mirror the emotional rhythm of the writing.

Identity is not what sits around the story.
It is how the story begins
before the first page.
The result
A cohesive author world with enough structure to be recognised — and enough freedom for every story to feel alive.
